Chris Seger is entering his second year as the Band Director at Hendersonville High School since returning to the position in the Fall of 2020. For the previous thirteen years (2007-2020) Mr. Seger served as Band Director at Ellis Middle School in Hendersonville, Tennessee, where he conducted the 6th, 7th, 8th Grade Concert bands and the Ellis Jazz Band. Prior to this he served his first stint as Head Band Director at Hendersonville High School for five years (2002-2007), conducting the Marching Band of Gold, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Ensembles. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Tennessee Technological University. During Mr. Seger’s tenure the Ellis Band consistently received high ratings at adjudicated events, including Superior ratings in stage performance and sight reading for seven of the last eight years.
Mr. Seger served as the Tennessee All-State Instrumental Equipment Chair for four years, attended the 2005 Southern Division MENC Conference as a delegate to the Emerging Leaders Symposium, served twice previously on the Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association’s Executive Board, and is a member of the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA). He currently holds the position of MTSBOA Mid-State Band Auditions Co-Chair. Mr. Seger was selected as the Ellis Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2012-2013. He enjoys playing the trombone professionally and is a member of the Nashville Praise Symphony.
Mr. Seger is married to his wife Lindsey, and they have two sons in the Hendersonville Band program: Jack (15; trombone) and Grant (13; percussion).
